About ILO

What Individualised Living Options means

Individualised Living Options, or ILO, is an NDIS support that helps you choose how and where you live, and who you live with. Instead of a one size fits all home, an ILO is shaped around your goals, your routine and the kind of support that helps you live as independently as possible.

An ILO often combines paid support with informal support from people in your life, such as housemates, friends, family or a host. It can suit men who want more choice and control over their living arrangement, while still having reliable support in place.

ILO is different from Supported Independent Living (SIL). SIL usually provides rostered support in a shared home, while an ILO is a tailored package of supports designed around one person and their chosen living situation. If you are not sure which fits, we are happy to talk it through.

About ILO

How it works

How an ILO comes together

Stage 1: Exploration and Design

Funded by the NDIS, this stage helps you explore your options and design the living arrangement that suits you, including where you live, who with and what support looks like.

Stage 2: Your ILO supports

Once your design is agreed, your ongoing ILO supports are funded and put in place, from a few hours of help to more regular daily support, depending on your needs.

Choice and control

You stay in the driver's seat. Your arrangement can adjust over time as your goals, confidence and circumstances change.

What it can include

Daily living at home

Cooking, cleaning, budgeting and the everyday routines that keep a home running, built up at a pace that suits you.

Living with the right people

Frequently asked questions

What is an ILO in the NDIS?

An Individualised Living Option, or ILO, is an NDIS funded support that helps you choose how and where you live, and who with. It is designed around you rather than a set home, and often blends paid support with informal support from people in your life.

How is ILO different from SIL?

SIL usually provides rostered support in a shared home. An ILO is a tailored package built around one person and their chosen living arrangement, giving more choice and control over who you live with and how support is delivered.

Where do you offer ILO?

We offer ILO across Sydney and Melbourne, with current availability in Ashfield in the inner west and Kogarah in Sydney’s south. Contact us about availability in your area.

Do I need ILO funding in my NDIS plan?

ILO is funded through your NDIS plan, often starting with an Exploration and Design stage. If you are not sure what is in your plan, we can help you understand your options and next steps.

Is Path 2 Life Care a registered NDIS provider?

Yes. Path 2 Life Care is a registered NDIS provider supporting men with disability across Sydney and Melbourne.
